What's Your Parenting Style?

Through the decades there have been thousands of parenting styles coming in and out of fashion. It is important to note that there is no "correct" parenting style and we should not criticize.

The majority of parents do their best with the information they are given. If we can develop a strong community of supportive parents, we will succeed in restoring a truly healthy planet via our kids.

This site is committed to providing information that will assist parents in making productive and positive choices. Our children are the most valuable asset on Earth and they will be responsible for the coming generation. Let's not mess this up!

A person's parenting style is as unique as their personality. And I think we can all agree when I say that no one is a perfect parent. So we continue to explore and learn from each other...

No matter what your personal approach is, incorporating positive parenting is important in fostering children who are self-expressed, aware and present to the now, and possessing the tools needed to bring in the next generation.

There is little debate that infancy and young childhood are the most formative and influential years of our lives. Attachment Parenting focuses on forming a bond and building trust through creating a safe space for babies to develop.

Conscious Parenting, which has gained popularity recently, can be broadly defined. At it's core is the essential task of protecting and preserving the child's true self while fostering a sense of safety, self-expression, and awareness.
This approach also acknowledges that the new and coming generations continue to evolve both spiritually and intellectually and should be treated with the respect and reverence they deserve.

During the 1950's and '60's, many counter-culture families found that permissive parenting style was best suited for their values and goals. A sense of true and complete self-expression and creativity exists in this method but it is not appropriate for all families.

A more traditional and balanced approach is Authoritative Parenting, or Baumrind's Style which focuses on establishing reasonable, rational rules. This type of parenting typically includes clearly defined moral values as well as social expectations but children are encouraged to discuss and disagree. A balance between demanding and responsive parenting is achieved.

With any of these styles or combinations thereof, discipline is always a topic. Whether the intent is to teach self-preservation or to raise the next world leader, discipline is a necessary element to any approach to parenting.

Here we will explore positive discipline exclusively as this site does NOT endorse any form of physical or emotional discomfort when teaching our children.
